Gabe Dean Trying His Hand At Greco
On April 24-26 in Chile, Team USA will be sending 3 squads to compete for the Pan American Championships. The United States has 3 talent-laden squads for Greco-Roman, Mens Freestyle and Womens Freestyle.
Many will be excited to learn that Gabe Dean, the 2014 NCAA Champion at 184 and 2014 Junior World Bronze Medalist (in Freestyle) will be trying his hand at Greco for this competition. Freestyle Cadet World Champion Mason Manville will be wrestling Greco as well for the United States.
The Greco squad also has a number of veteran hammers with World Team experience with Spenser Mango, Joe Rau, Caylor Williams and Robbie Smith.
Our Women’s squad will be lead by world team members Victoria Anthony and Veronica Carlson.
The Men’s Freestyle squad is a great mix of of talent lead by University World Champion Tyler Caldwell, World Team Trials runner-up Zach Rey and 2x NCAA Champion Chris Perry.
The Pan American Championships are the final qualifier to the Pan-American Games in July. Currently Team USA needs to place top 5 at the following weights to qualify for the Pan American games:
53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg and 75 kg in Women’s Freestyle
59 kg, 66 kg, 85 kg, 98 kg and 130 kg in Greco-Roman
65 kg, 86 kg and 97 kg in Men’s Freestyle
