As first reported by IAWrestle.com, 2016 Fargo National champion Jake Allar has become the latest top recruit to ask for a release from his scholarship to Iowa State.

According to Allar, who is currently ranked second at 160 pounds and is the 20th-ranked recruit on the Class of 2017 Big Board, he requested the release prior to ISU's announcement on Tuesday that Cyclones head coach Kevin Jackson would be stepping down after this season.

"I asked for a release a week ago actually," Allar told IAWrestle.com. "The things I've been seeing with ISU this season were not conveyed to me this fall when I had originally committed. I have nothing but respect for everyone down there in Ames. It's just not the place for me."

The defending Minnesota state champion at 152lbs and St. Michael-Albertville High School senior isn't the only recruit requesting release. Austin Gomez also made the decision that he would like to re-open his recruitment after he heard the news about Jackson, and current Cyclones All-American Pat Downey echoed Gomez's thoughts as well via Twitter.

Only time will tell where everyone ends up.
