Team USA 2-0 After First Day Of World Cup
Team USA is 2-0 after day one of the 2017 Freestyle World Cup, highlighted by David Taylor's two wins.
It was a strong start for USA Wrestling on day one of the 2017 Freestyle World Cup in Kermanshah, Iran, on Thursday. America ran through Georgia in its opening match, winning the first seven bouts, highlighted by David Taylor's comeback win over 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Dato Marsagishvili.
Taylor was once again the hero against Russia, reeling off 14 straight points after being thrown for four in the first minute. The tech was followed by a Kyle Snyder win to seal the dual, setting up a showdown with Azerbaijan on Friday to make the finals.
Jordan Burroughs was 2-0 in his return to the mat, and Logan Stieber won both matches in his first action since becoming world champ in December. Snyder put up a tech and a pin in a dominant performance coming off his Yarygin title, and James Green won both his matches in his first action since Budapest.
