It appears Iowa State has filled their head coaching position. As first reported by the Iowa State Daily, Kevin Dresser, currently the head coach at Virginia Tech, has accepted the job to be the next Cyclone wrestling coach.

Dresser's first order of business will have to be convincing recruits who have asked for their release that they should still come to Ames. The school is running out of time to respond to guys like Austin Gomez, Jake Allar and Ethan Smith.

The 54-year-old is taking the helm of a program that has not finished in the Top-10 at the national tournament since 2010, and is currently 1-11 this season, with only tomorrow's dual with Minnesota left on the schedule.

It is unclear what will happen to the current Iowa State assistants, or the incoming batch of VT recruits. Whether or not they come to Blacksburg, the Hokie coach replacing Dresser will inherit four guys currently ranked Top-10, as well as 2016 All American David McFadden.

Dresser will be returning to his home state, as he is a native of Humboldt, Iowa and wrestled under Dan Gable at Iowa. He was a member of several national championships teams and won an individual title of his own in 1986.
