FloWrestler of the Week: David Taylor, USA
The Magic Man's awesome win streak at the 2017 World Cup makes him our FloWrestler of the Week presented by Cliff Keen.
If you were an Olympic medal winner and David Taylor was on the other side of the mat against you at the 2017 World Cup last week, you were not making it off the mat with your hand raised.
Taylor aggressively dismantled a set of Olympic champions and an Olympic bronze medalist to lead Team USA to a runner-up finish in Kermanshah, Iran, this past Thursday and Friday. The Magic Man's final win in the 86 kg weight class was probably his most impressive as he came back after trailing early to pin Iran's Hassan Yazdanicharati, the Rio Games gold medalist at 74 kg, on Friday.
Earlier that day, Taylor knocked off his first of two Olympic champions when he tech-falled Sharif Sharifov of Azerbaijan 12-2. On Thursday, Taylor took out Olympic bronze medalist Dato Marsagishvili of Georgia. Throw in Taylor's tech over Russia's Vladislav Valiev and you've got one impressive run for the former Penn State All-American.
