Bo Nickal with a pin! It's getting very difficult to keep up with the action but the PSU crowd provide a helpful reminder to look up and see what just happened.
Gabe Dean looks rather mortal in his 11-3 major decision victory over CMU's Ellingwood.
Senior Jack Dechow of ODU makes it back to the quarters with a sudden victory win over Indiana's Nate Jackson, no. 8 holding seed over no. 9.

VTech's Jared Haught stays hot (sorry, can't help myself), and cashes out Iowa's Cash Wilcke 4-1 (yeah that second one was even worse, sorry).
OK States no. 6 Preston Weigel holds seed over no. 11 Shawn Scott of NIU. There's almost no margin of error left for the Cowboys, even this early in the tournament, for their team championship aspirations.

App State's Dejournette and Minnesota's Michael Kroells are stopped in the tie breaker phase as the refs review a takedown call. This is a tight battle between the nos. 8 and 9 seed. Just a reminder to everyone on the floor out there to pay attention and stay on your toes while the heavies are out there.
UPSET ALERT! In a crushing blow to the OK State faithful, no. 6 Austin Schafer is blanked, 8-0, by unseeded Conan Jennings of Northwestern. Big win for the Wildcats.
Tanner Hall gets a pin in overtime over Stanford's Nate Butler, in the antepenultimate heavyweight bout.
Wisconsins' no. 2, Conor Medbery wins 5-0 in the last match of the championship round on the day. Consolation action is underway, which we will get to soon, after a quick break to update the scores and try and catch the really egregious typos.

ATTENDENCE ALERT: another crowd of 18,157 just announced for session 2. That brings today's two session total to 36,314. From a look around the Scottrade Center, it appears a couple few of those paid ticket holders are already at dinner.
125: 2X All-American Dylan Peters of UNI stays alive with a gritty 8-7 win over Sean Nickell of CSU-Bakersfield.
125: Michigan's 2X All-American, Conor Youtsey, however, does not advance, as he is beaten by Stanford's talented Gabe Townsell, which officially ends Youtsey's career, for the second time.
133: As part of our 2X All-American theme, Iowa State senior Earl Hall must also call it a collegiate career, as he was beaten by another Stanford wrestler, Conner Schram, who also has no respect for his elders.
133: Cornell senior Mark Grey lives to fight another day, advancing pas Jeffrey Ott of Harvard 10-2. He'll face familiar EIWA opponent, Scotty Parker of Lehigh in the next round.
141: Big Ten rivals Topher Carton of Iowa and Cole Martin of Wisconsin duked it out, with Carton advancing with a 16-4 major decision. He'll see another B1G foe, Luke Pletcher of Ohio State, next.
141: Lock Haven's Ronnie Perry survives CSUB's Rohlfing, but he'll have the monstrous Jared Prince of Navy in the next round.
149: No. 8 Lugo of Edinboro advances, but no. 12 Speno's season is done. The Wolfpacker fell to App State's Matt "Zov" Zovistoski.
149: George Mason's Sahid Kargo beat Michael Hayes of Old Dominion, in a battle of schools from opposite sides of the state of Virginia. Kargbo will see Maryland's Bannister, in a match between schools on opposite sides of the Potomac River.
157: No. 8 Jake Short of Minnesota and no. 13 John Van Brill of Rutgers both shake off their first round upsets and advance to Friday's morning session. Short took out Duke's Jake Faust, 13-4, and JVB squeaked by Ryan Mosley of Gardner-Webb, 1-0.
157: Four time NCAA qualifier, Aaron Walker of the Citadel, will not become an All-American in his final attempt. He loses to Casey Sparkman, of the appropriately named Golden Flashes of Kent State.
165: Iowa fans have another reason to stand up and cheer, as Joey Gunther takes out CSUB's Lorenzo De La Riva in a tight 3-1 victory. LDLR's season comes to an abrupt end.
A coach from Penn has been called to the head table. I'll need help in verifying this but it seems that more coaches than usual are being called to the head table and getting warnings or team point deductions. At least for the first day anyway. Tempers are flaring in the coach's corners this year!
174: Jonathan Schleifer for Lifer of Princeton pins Devin Skatzka of Indiana. Casey Clark Kent of Penn beats Kocer the Younger of SD State.
174: OK State's Kyle Crutchmer majors Purdue's Jacob Morrisey. If Crutchmer can keep bonusing folks all the way to a third place finish, he'll more than make up for his first round loss. Which may, or may not, all be part of coach John Smith's master plan.
184: Nick "The Corba" Corba picks up a pin over Rider's Michale Fagg-Daves. The CSU Vikings will have a wrestler tomorrow!
Minnesota is deducted a team point for head gear throwing. Horseplay leads to injuries my dudes. You could have a lawsuit on your hands if you're not careful.
197: Princeton's Brett Harner gets back on the All-American winning way, with a pin over Jake Tindle of SIUE. Harner will wrestle tomorrow.
197: Nate Rotert of SD State also gets back on track. He wins 4-1 over Jacob Holschlag of UNI.
We've got nothing but heavyweight matches left. Just once I'd like to see a tournament go in reverse weight order. Why not do the heavyweights first and 125 last? What could it hurt? Variety is the spice of life and so forth.
285: Lehigh's Doug Vollaro is in a 1-1 tie match against Cory Daniel of UNC. I believe 1-1 matches that go into OT are in Vollaro's contract somewhere. And I spoke too soon, Vollaro gets a late take down and earns a victory in regulation! Vollaro will advance to the next round.
285: Utah Valley's Dustin Dennison is leading Drexel's Joseph Goodhart 4-2, to start the final period of Thursday's action. Dennison will put it away, 6-3. Well done Dustin Dennison.
Don't forget to check tomorrow. We'll have more NCAA coverage all day. Session 3 starts at 10:00 am Central Time. Thanks for following along and see you tomorrow!

Right after Meyer upsets Preisch, Sammy Brooks pins Edinboro's Dakota Geer. The Iowa fans are nearly delirious right now.

We're already up to the heavyweights, where things usually slow down, unless you are Kyle Snyder, who has about 50 points in the second period. Snyder wins. I missed his score but I believe it was around a 2 or 300 point margin.Ty Walz scores another victory for the Hokies, sending 3 of their 4 upper weights unto the quarters.
App State's Dejournette and Minnesota's Michael Kroells are stopped in the tie breaker phase as the refs review a takedown call. This is a tight battle between the nos. 8 and 9 seed. Kroells wins with a late takedown of Dejournette, who uses a couple refs and table scorers to break his fall.

CONSOLATION ROUND 1
I'll just skip around and try and catch up on some noteworthy matches.125: 2X All-American Dylan Peters of UNI stays alive with a gritty 8-7 win over Sean Nickell of CSU-Bakersfield.
