AJ Nevills announced on twitter today that he will be a member of the newly reconstituted Fresno State wrestling program this fall.

Back in January of 2016, AJ committed to Penn State to join his brother, Nick, the recently minted NCAA All-American and 5th place finisher at 285 pounds.

The move is a homecoming for AJ, as he won a California State Wresting Championship in 2016 at 195 pounds for Clovis High School, located less than five miles from Fresno State's campus. AJ was the 47th ranked wrestler on the Flo Class of 2016 Big Board but did not see any NCAA action in the 2017 season. AJ trained with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club but did not enroll at Penn State University. He will have four years of eligibility at Fresno State, plus the ability to redshirt.

Zach, the eldest of four Nevills brothers, just completed his senior season for Stanford at 184 pounds. The youngest, Seth, recently wrapped up his junior year at Clovis High School by winning a state championship at 285 pounds.

Nevills will be a key addition for head coach Troy Steiner, as he fills out a Fresno State wrestling roster for first time since the program was shuttered after the 2006 season. Over a decade later, the Bulldogs are back, looking to build on a long and storied tradition. If a dynasty is to re-emerge in California's Central Valley, AJ Nevills will be an integral part of it.
