In April of 2016, longtime friends and training partners Gavin Teasdale and Spencer Lee verbally committed to wrestle at Iowa together. Lee, the top ranked recruit in the country has signed on the dotted line already to become a Hawkeye. Gavin Teasdale, who is a year younger than Spencer, has had a change of heart.

Teasdale has officially decommitted from Iowa and has committed to wrestle at Penn State. He recently informed the Hawkeye coaching staff about his change of plans.

The three-time PIAA state champion is still a bit of an unknown in terms of which weight will be the best fit. He won a state title this year at 126 pounds, but could slot in as a 133 or 141 pounder at the next level. The #2 recruit for the class of 2018 has won Fargo titles, three PA state titles (with a year to go) and has made multiple Cadet World teams.  The Nittany Lions, who recently won back to back NCAA Titles, already have commitments from #3 Travis Wittlake and #4 Roman Bravo-Young.
