Cadet world champion Will Lewan is headed to Michigan!
On Monday, the No. 1-ranked 152-pounder announced live on FloWrestling that he will be joining UM head coach Joe McFarland and the Wolverines wrestling program in Ann Arbor, MI, next season.
The Illinois native made his choice after narrowing his top three down to North Carolina, Stanford, and the Wolverines.
Lewan recently claimed a cadet world title in Athens, Greece, to help power team USA to a runner-up finish. The No. 29-ranked recruit on the Class of 2018 Big Board also claimed a Fargo title this summer. He made both the Greco and freestyle world teams before deciding to focus on just freestyle and going on to win the title.
Lewan will be in action at Who's #1 to defend his top ranking against No. 2 Brayton Lee on Oct. 8 at Lehigh University's Lehman Turner Arena at Grace Hall in Bethlehem, PA.
Future teammate Joey Silva is excited to have Lewan on board, as are the rest of the Big Blue faithful.
Watch Lewan defeat Peyton Robb at the Cadet Freestyle World Team Trials.
