In September, Jake Allar committed to wrestle at Iowa State. Allar changed his mind prior to ISU's announcement that Kevin Jackson would not be returning for the 2017-18 season.
The St. Michael-Albertville High School wrestler has been released by Iowa State and will be staying home and wrestling for the University of Minnesota.
Allar announced the decision via twitter:
Allar is ranked 4th at 170 and is the #20 overall recruit for the class of 2017. He projects as a 165 pounder at the next level, a weight of need for Minnesota moving forward. Allar has been improving rapidly and turned heads at Fargo where he won by technical fall in the finals over Max Wohlabaugh.
This news comes a day after Austin Gomez re-committed to wrestle for Iowa State after asking for a release.
