Two-time world champion Kamran Ghasempour is likely out of the world championships due to an injury. Amirali Azarpira will man the 92kg spot in Ghasempour's place. Azarpira holds the #1 spot based on his recent win over Zahid Valencia at the Budapest Ranking Series Event.

Zahid Valencia comes in at #3 after defeating Mike Macchiavello at Final X in two straight matches. On top of that, Valencia also took out Kollin Moore at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. It's worth noting that both Kollin Moore and Nate Jackson have combined wins over Feyzulla Akturk, Osman Nurmagomedov, Gankhuyag Ganbaaar, and Miriani Maisuradze.
