California Bringing The Heat To Junior Duals
With Junior National Duals quickly approaching, the first freestyle team roster has surfaced and it is stacked! Team California, who are coming off an 11th place finish in last year's dual tournament, will have five nationally ranked wrestlers featured on their roster. The Golden State will also be bringing five state champions and three state runner-ups to Tulsa. Wrestling begins Wednesday, June 22 with Greco and concludes on Saturday, June 25 with the freestyle placement matches. You can watch all the action from Tulsa live on Flo this weekend.

Liam Cronin (113)- The future Hoosier reached his second straight California state finals this season but once again finished with a silver medal. Cronin earned two medals last summer in Fargo, placing in both greco and freestyle at 106lbs.

Chase Zollman (113/120)- Zollman, just a sophomore, picked up his second state medal this season, finishing one spot below Cronin on the podium. He recently placed 7th at UWW Cadet Nationals in Akron.

#2 Justin Mejia (120/126)- A three-time state champ, Mejia will seek to become California's second four-time state champion in his senior campaign next season. However, he is not known for competing at the freestyle level so it'll be interesting to see how the Hawkeye commit fares.

Watch Mejia take out future Iowa teammate Jason Renteria.

David Campbell (126)- Campbell was able to earn his first state title in his final season of his prep career. Much like Mejia though, Campbell lacks experience in freestyle. He competed at Fargo in 2014 but quickly exited the tournament after going 2-2.

Trence Gillem (132/138)- Gillem climbed seven spots from his 2015 8th place finish at the California state tournament, to a state championship, by way of knocking off nationally ranked Durbin Lloren in the finals this past season. Like Campbell and Mejia, this is one of the first times we will see Gillem competing at the national level in freestyle.

#34 (Sophomore Big Board) Alex Felix (132/138)- Felix was projected to meet up with Lloren in the California state finals, but was upset in the quarterfinals of the tournament and finished with a 4th place finish, one spot lower than his 3rd place finish the year before. A nationally ranked sophomore, Felix competed at Fargo in 2014, falling one-win shy of the medal stand at 126lbs.

Jaden Enriquez (138/145)- Enriquez is one of the most talented wrestlers on the California team when it comes to freestyle and Greco. In 2014, He won a Greco national title and later that week earned a earned a trip to the finals in freestyle. He also earned All-American status in both greco and freestyle at the 2014 and 2015 UWW Cadet Nationals. He was a member of last year's dual team and had an undefeated record of 6-0. Enriquez did not compete at this year's state tournament but took 4th in 2014 and 2nd in 2015.

Check out Enriquez winning a Fargo greco national title.

#3 Zander Wick (145/152)- A 2015 Fargo All-American and 2016 California State champion, Zander Wick adds freestyle experience to this talented California roster. The future Badger competed in Vegas earlier this year at UWW Junior Nationals but was eliminated in the blood round.

#4 Evan Wick (152/160)
- Not be outdone by his brother Zander, Evan Wick boast a silver medal from Fargo and a silver medal from UWW Junior Nationals. Wick, who will tag along with his brother at Wisconsin, only loss of the Junior Nationals tournament was to current Iowa Hawkeye, Michael Kemerer, 9-8. He pinned and tech-falled his way through the California state tournament earning his first and only state championship of his high school career.

Check out Wick knock off then #1 Hayden Hidlay at Fargo last year.

Chris Bailey (195)- Bailey was a state finalist this season.

#6 Jeremy Thomas (170)- A California state champion, Ironman and Doc Buchanan finalist, Thomas has quite the resume. But the reoccurring theme for this California team is lack of freestyle experience, Thomas will be one of the several Californians who will attempt to take their folkstyle skills to the national freestyle level. His brother Justin, who also won state this year, is not listed on the team's roster.

#10 Anthony Mantanona (170/182)- Thomas defeated Mantanona in this year's California state finals at 170lbs. He took 2nd in 2015 at UWW Cadet Nationals in Greco and earned All-American status at Fargo in 2014. He did not compete at Fargo last year.

Watch Mantanona take it to nationally ranked Trent Hidlay.
