With the 2016 Junior Duals just around the corner, let's take a look back at some of the most star-studded matches to ever go down at the meet.
Junior Duals begin this Wednesday with Greco-Roman, then transition to freestyle on Friday. You can watch every match LIVE on FloWrestling, starting Wednesday at 9AM CT.
2008: Tony Ramos, Illinois, vs. Andrew Long, Iowa
Future NCAA champion for Iowa, Ramos, took on NCAA finalist Long at the 2008 Junior Duals:
2014: 152 Joe Smith, Oklahoma, vs. Larry Early, Illinois
Before Smith was a true freshman All-American for Oklahoma State, he struggled with Illinois' Larry Early, III.
2014: 160 Bryce Brill, Illinois, vs. Logan Massa, Michigan
Two former No. 1-ranked guys in the country collided at the 2014 Junior Duals. Massa has been a killer in freestyle and will be ready to smash for Michigan next year. If Brill gets healthy for Northwestern, he'll be a factor as well.
2008: Chris Villalonga, New Jersey, vs. Chris Dardanes, Illinois
Two future Division I All-Americans collided here in 2008. Villalonga would place at 149 for Cornell, while Dardanes would experience his success at 133 for Minnesota.
2014: 145 Isaiah White, Illinois, vs. Brady Berge, Minnesota
Current No. 1 at 160 (White) took on future No. 1 (Berge) at the 2014 Junior Duals:
2014: 152 Mason Manville, New Jersey, vs. Joe Smith, Oklahoma
Here's more evidence of Joseph Smith's improvement. Cadet world champion Mason Manville took out Smith here. A few years later, Smith became a Division I hammer.
2012: 182 Sam Brooks, Illinois, vs. Alex Meyer, Iowa
Future Hawkeye teammates and All-Americans scrapped at the 2012 Junior Duals.
2015: 160 Isaiah White, Illinois, vs. David McFadden, New Jersey
McFadden won the Who's #1 bout with a ton of controversy. Here, the New Jersey star-turned-Hokie All-American left no doubt.
2012: 220 Willie Miklus, Iowa. vs. Brad Johnson, Illinois
I threw this one in as a fun reminder that Miklus once competed at 220 pounds! He is now a lean and mean two-time All-American for the Missouri Tigers at 184 pounds.
2015: 160 Joe Smith, Oklahoma, vs. Isaiah White, Illinois
It was a 6-2 lead for White early, but Joe would go on to score nine of the next 10 points!
There's no question we'll be seeing dozens of outstanding match-ups between current and future stars in wrestling this week at Junior Duals.
Remember, you can watch every match LIVE on FloWrestling, starting Wednesday at 9AM CT.
