#4 Mosha Schwartz, CO
Brenden Chaowanapibool, WA
Cevion Severado, MO
Matthew Petersen, MN

Commentary: This is an expectedly small bracket, but one of the best top fours in the tournament. Schwartz and Severado met in the UWW Cadet finals a few months ago. Petersen was a Fargo All American last year, but keep your eye on Chaowanapibool. Being in the northwest may keep him from being a household name, but Washington has been very successful at Cadet/Junior duals and Fargo the past few years.

#2 Jason Holmes, AZ
#3 Jaret Lane, PA
#6 Cody Phippen, MO
#9 Elijah Varona, FL
#13 Brandon Kaylor, WA
Nathan Rankin, TX
Tyler Cunningham, NE
Cody Craig, ME

Commentary: We have the potential to see a repeat of last year's Junior 100lb finals between Lane and Varona. Neither met at Junior duals, where both went undefeated. Holmes, who beat Varona for third place at UWW Juniors, and Kaylor also went undefeated at Junior duals. Phippen is another tough kid, but he will be moving up from Cadets. Cunningham was seventh at 50kg for UWW Cadets. Also in the mix are returning All Americans Rankin and Craig.

#7 Joey Melendez, IL
#19 Patrick McKee, MN
Brady Koontz, WI
Brock Bergelin, WI
Dack Punke, IL
Dylan Koontz, WI
Joe Thomas, MD
#10 Joseph Harrison, NE
Kelvin Eblen, MO
Oscar Nellis, CA

Commentary: Punke is the defending champ and was last year's Cadet world team member at 50kg. He is by far the most accomplished Greco athlete in this bracket. Brady Koontz is another world teamer in this bracket, and he was third at Junior 100lbs a year ago. Brady's brother Dylan was in the junior finals at 106 last year. Bergelin was third as a cadet 113 last year, and placing second at UWW Cadet 50kg two years in a row proves he is another title contender from Wisconsin, along with the Koontz brothers.

Melendez only loss at Junior duals was to McKee and is the highest ranked guy in this weight. McKee has had a busy summer, going undefeated at Junior duals and wrestling at both UWW Cadets and UWW Juniors. Drew Bennett is a currently ranked guy in this weight; Nic Aguilar and Justin Portillo were in the final 2016 rankings.

#7 Drew Mattin, OH
#15 Ian Timmins, NV
#16 Jack Skudlarcyzk, TX
#18 Jet Taylor, OK
#20 Connor Brown, MO
Austin Macias, IL
Colin Valdiviez, MO
Dalton Duffield, OK
#2 Danny Vega, AZ
Jaxon Cole, UT
Jordan Martinez, CO
Liam Cronin, CA

Commentary: Duffield is the reigning champ at this weight, but did take a loss at Junior duals when he bumped up to 126. Timmins is another former champ in this weight, and the second highest ranked guy. Valdiviez just won a UWW Cadet Pan Am title in Peru. Mattin was undefeated at Junior duals and won the Central regional. Chase Zollmann is ranked but has no Greco credentials.

#16 Alex Thomsen, IA
#18 Paul Bianchi, WI
Clai Quintanilla, WA
Drew West, IA
Jack Karstetter, OK
#9 Matthew Schmitt, MO
PJ Gohn, NJ

Commentary: Karstetter and Thomsen would make for a fantastic final, representing two of the best states in the country and guys who have showed a penchant for Fargo at a young age. West is going up a couple weights, but joins a group of seasoned veterans on team Iowa. I'm looking for PJ Gohn to breakout here after turning some heads in Akron.

Contenders
#3 Taylor LaMont, UT
#8 Tim Kane, CT
Gabriel Townsell, IL
Dalton Young, WA
Zachary Van Alst, AL
Nathan Lendt, IA

Commentary: This is LaMont's weight to lose. Townsell already has a junior stop sign to his name, so he is a very likely finals opponent for LaMont; we saw them scrap at Junior duals. Tim Kane is a ranked guy hoping to join his female teammate Cara Broadus as a rare champ from Connecticut. Van Alst is a returning All American. This weight is one of the reasons Fargo is so much fun: guys from non-traditional power states showing up and tearing their way through a bracket.

#4 Mitchell McKee, MN
#15 Alec Hagan, MO
Calvin Germinaro, MN
Cal Hansen, WI
Corey Shie, OH
Jaden Enriquez, CA
Jarrett Degen, MT
Nolan Baker, IL

Commentary: An all-Minnesota final is a distinct possibility here. McKee is the most credentialed in this bracket and a defending champ from last year. Germinaro was runner-up in Akron and just won a Cadet Pan Am title. But there are a few studs like Enriquez, Shie and Hagan who could prove to be landmines on the way to the finals. Degen presents a ton of problems for kids due to his size, and if he uses his leverage properly, get ready for some bombs this weekend.

145
Contenders
Alexander Frometa, TX
#8 Alexander Lloyd, MN
#6 Anthony Artalona, FL
#2 Austin O'Connor, IL
Jaron Jensen, UT

Commentary: O'Connor is hungry for a title after taking silver last year. But there are two returning cadet champs in Lloyd and Artalona who might sneak into the finals. I'm giving the slight edge to Artalona since he isn't going up in weight. Frometa worked his way into third in Akron.

152
Contenders
Griffin Parriott, MN
#4 Quentin Hovis, AZ
#15 Jaryn Curry, OK
Lenny Merkin, NY

Commentary: Parriott is the overwhelming favorite in this bracket to take home a stop sign. Hovis will be tested up a few weights, but has a strong shot to face Parriott in the finals. Curry is a ranked guy looking for his breakout Greco performance. It seems as though a lot of the best guys near this weight go up or down as they prepare for their UWW junior careers.

Contenders
#3 Jake Allar, MN
#7 Trent Hidlay, PA
#12 Max Wohlabaugh FL
#9 Colton Clingenpeel, IA

Commentary: Wohlabaugh is absolutely the favorite here in his last tune-up before Cadet worlds in September. He could match up with last year's 69kg world teamer in Allar. Hidlay has had a strong summer, going undefeated at Junior duals and winning Northeast regional. Clingenpeel is a returning placer looking for one last shot on the podium.

Contenders:
#16 Clay Lautt, KS
Kamal Bey, CO
#4 Anthony Mantanona, CA
#12 Eric Hong, PA
#8 Jack Jessen, IL
Victor Marcelli, OH

Commentary: Without a doubt, the most anticipated bracket of the tournament. Few kids love Fargo as much as Kamal Bey, and even though he's living at the OTC now, he wanted another challenge with his brothers from Illinois. Clay Lautt is only doing Greco this year as he prepares for Cadet worlds, so having him face off with Bey before then is the best challenge possible on home soil. Hong tends to mainly be a freestyle guy, but certainly has Greco potential. Mantanona and Jessen are both dangerous going upper body and will no doubt fare well this weekend.

182
Contenders
Aaron Paddock, NY
Anthony Sherry, IA
Dylan Servis, KS
Elias Vaoifi, MO
#6 James Handwerk, OH
Logan Gruszka, IL
Matthew Waddell, GA
Owen Webster, MN

Commentary: Webster and Gruskza are the favorite here, both having had success in Fargo the past two years. The Paddocks have a strong history of Greco success. Waddell and Handwerk are both sneaky good at Greco. Vaoifi, Serivs and Sherry have been All Americans at either Fargo or Akron.

195
Contenders
Brandon Whitman, MI
#12 John Borst, VA
Wyatt Koelling, UT
Dalton Hahn, WI

Koelling is back to defend his title and faces stiff competition from the like of UWW Cadet placers Whitman and Borst. Neither won the title in Akron, so expect them to be hungry for their first stop sign on Tuesday the 19th. Like most upper weights, this one will shake itself once the final entries are known.

220
Contenders
Sam Shields-Colbray, OR
Zane Black, PA
Colin Lawler, TX
Trenten Rogich, MN

Commentary: Fargo is where Sammy Shields-Colbray made his name, and he's back for one last go-round before he heads off to Iowa State. There are no returning placers from junior 220 last year, but Black was in the same 195 bracket as Shields-Colbray and placed fourth. Rogich of Minnesota is a ranked heavyweight dropping to 220 for this event.

285
Contenders
#11 Carter Isley, IA
Gavin Nye, CA
Anthony Cassioppi, IL
Brandon Metz, ND
#20 Sammy De Seriere, CO
Keaton Kluever, WI
#11 Kayne Hutchison, KS

Commentary: This one could wind up being a match-up of runners-up from last Fargo, Isley from juniors and Nye from cadets. Cassoppi is another dangerous heavyweight, and we know Illinois always comes ready to roll in Fargo. Aside from Isley, Metz is the highest returning junior medalist and will have the home crowd rooting for him.  De Seriere and Kluever should help round out the podium for the big boys. I also really like Hutchison in this bracket.
