World Champ Erica Pastoriza Picks William Jewell
U17 World champion Erica Pastoriza will attend William Jewell College after narrowing her choices to three.
William Jewell coach Desiree Ramos should be grinning ear to ear right now. She just received a commitment from Erica Pastoriza — an age-level World champion who projects to be a lifetime 101-pounder.
The Phoenix, Arizona, native narrowed her choices to William Jewell, North Central, and King before announcing her decision on Instagram. William Jewell is a Division II program located in Liberty, Missouri.
"I'm excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at William Jewell College!! Defend the Nest!!
"I want to thank my parents, my coaches at Wyoming Seminary, and Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club! I wouldn't be here without all my friends and family. Also thank you Lisa for always being there for me and the best sister. Can't wait to see what the future holds for me."
"It's a growing program and I want to grow it," Pastoriza said. "I know Coach Desiree and I know she'll work hard to build this right"
Pastoriza, a senior at Wyoming Seminary, won the U17 World Championships at 40 kg in 2021 followed by a silver medal at 43 kg in 2022. Her gold medal performance was part of the first team title for the United States at the Cadet World Championships. She is also a two-time Who's Number One participant.
