Cannon's Announcement:

DeAugustino and Cannon are transferring to Michigan from Northwestern where they both achieved All-American honors for the Wildcats. Michael DeAugustino has 1 year of eligibility remaining and finished 4th at the 2022 NCAA Tournament at 125 pounds. In 2023, DeAugustino went 1-2 at NCAAs and is currently ranked #12 in our early, 2023-24 NCAA Rankings.

Chris Cannon is a two-time All-American at 133 pounds where he finished 7th at the NCAA Tournament in both 2021 and 2022. At this year’s NCAA Tournament, Cannon earned the #12 seed but failed to reach the podium after going 1-2. Cannon notably has 2 years of eligibility left and is ranked #13 in our early rankings at 133 pounds.

DeAugustino and Cannon will likely slide in as the starters at 125 and 133 respectively next year for the Wolverines. Last season those spots were manned by national qualifiers Jack Medley (125) and Dylan Ragusin (133). Michigan will lose Medley to graduation and Dylan Ragusin has a redshirt available or could move up to 141 pounds after the graduation of last year’s starter Cole Mattin.

It’s also worth noting that DeAugustino and Cannon will be joining former Northwestern teammate Lucas Davison who committed to the Wolverines on April 6. Davison is a two-time All-American at heavyweight with 1 year of eligibility remaining.
