Last Week In Recruiting: May 1-7
Your weekly recruiting round-up.
Sunday, May 7th was the last official day to enter the transfer portal with facing consequences such as giving up a year of eligibility or going through extra steps such as getting a waiver from the NCAA. So, unsurprisingly there were quite a few names that went in. Now, guys do have an extra day or two to get in as long as they can prove they started the process before Monday, so I expect a couple more to go in Monday and Tuesday.
The biggest transfer news came out of Ann Arbor as Michigan picked up three huge commitments from All-Americans Michael DeAugustino and Chris Cannon as well as national champion Shane Griffith. However, they did lose this year’s starting 149 pounder Chance Lamer, who entered the portal and then announced he would be joining his brothers at Cal Poly.
After it was announced that Lou Rosselli would no longer be at Oklahoma, several 2023 commits asked for their release. While current student-athletes can enter the transfer portal, it is being reported that Oklahoma is trying to block these commits’ releases and deny the athletes a year of eligibility. This is an ongoing event and we will keep you updated.
