High School Star Paige Morales Flips Commitment To Providence
Top high school senior Paige Morales changed her mind and will compete for Matt Atwood at Providence.
One of the best pound-for-pound high school seniors in the country has flipped her commitment from Central Methodist to Providence. Paige Morales picked the Argos — an NAIA program located in Great Falls, Montana — as her next step.
Providence recently finished fifth at the inaugural NAIA women’s championships with one champion and six All-Americans.
The Clovis, California, native is currently ranked third at 106 pounds and #18 overall. She was a 2021 Cadet and Junior National champion, a 2022 Super 32 champ, and a 2022 California state champion.
A post on the program's Instagram page announced that Morales had signed.
Morales presumably changed her mind following the departure of Sam Schmitz from Central Methodist. She initially chose the school because of Schmitz and his level of coaching. The former McKendree coach was with the program for one season before pursuing other interests.
Schmitz led McKendree to three consecutive national collegiate women’s championships (2020-22). Matt Atwood is the current head coach of Providence.
Morales had an impressive performance during her run to a 2021 Fargo title
