Iran Takes Home The Team Title, USA Finishes Second

Iran finished strong and secured the team title by defeating second-place Team USA by 30 points. In total, Iran won 6 medals - 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes. Along with the medalists, Iran scored valuable points from their 4 other non medalists with 2 wrestlers finishing in 5th (10 points each) and 2 wrestlers finishing in 7th (8 points each). 

Though Team USA finished in second, they also brought home 6 medals - 3 golds and 3 bronzes. However, Team USA failed to score points in 3 weights (51 kg, 60 kg, and 110 kg).

In the above table, you'll notice Russia is listed as "AIN" which means "Individual Neutral Athlete". These athletes cannot earn team points, however, it's still interesting to keep track of and helps in organizing points for every weight. Team points are calculated according to UWW’s top 10 placement points for world championship team scoring: 25, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.
