Here's how the points are divided by weight class:
In the above table, you'll notice Russia and Belarus are listed as "AIN" which means "Individual Neutral Athlete". These athletes cannot earn team points, however, it's still interesting to keep track of and helps in organizing points for every weight. Team points are calculated according to UWW’s top 10 placement points for world championship team scoring: 25, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.
Team USA Battles Through Adversity
Despite finishing behind India and Japan, Team USA still had a successful world championship with 5 medals - 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze. What makes this performance even more impressive was the adversity many of the team members had to fight through during the tournament. Many of the members of Team USA suffered from severe bouts of food poisoning in Jordan. Check out Kennedy Blades's brief description of what she dealt with:
Fighting food poisoning throughout the whole tournament was not easy. From being 6 kg under, to going to the ER after my semis match really showed me how deep I could go as God tested me. All glory to Christ 🙏🏽🥉🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/jzpuTPHIDh
