David Taylor Calls Out Jordan Burroughs For An MMA Fight
Could we actually see Jordan Burroughs and David Taylor step into a cage, ring, or grappling mat to face off?
David Taylor took to X Friday evening to have a little fun and call out Jordan Burroughs in "grappling, boxing, MMA - doesn’t matter."
I’m glad you didn’t retire & are staying busy. You’ve always said you want 1 MMA fight. After the Olympics let’s run it. Grappling, boxing, MMA - doesn’t matter. https://t.co/mVuWYMgLNS

This was in response to Burroughs posting a video of him training jiu-jitsu with Tyler Burger and boxing with Ryan Kim Cafaro, a striking coach in New Jersey.
Leveling up. 📶

Burroughs has publicly stated his interest in MMA in the past.
I want one MMA fight before I retire. Just one.

After tweeting this, Burroughs went on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour and said:
"I'm not trying to ruffle feathers. I don't try to draw attention that's unwanted. I tweeted that because I'm sincere about it and want to entertain offers." - Jordan Burroughs on the legitimacy of his interest in MMA.
David Taylor also went on The MMA Hour about a year ago to talk with Helwani about mixed martial arts. While Taylor also expressed interest, he was much more reserved about the likely hood of actually stepping in the cage.
The Jordan Burroughs - David Taylor rivalry goes back over a decade to the 2013 US Open finals where the two faced off for the first time. Burroughs would win that match 3-1, 1-0 (it was still the best two of three period era). In 2014, the two met three times with Burroughs again winning all three matches. After 2014, Taylor moved up in weight and the rivalry took a five-year hiatus. It resumed in 2021 when Burroughs moved up in weight to take on Taylor at FloWrestling 4. This is where Taylor was finally able to defeat Burroughs in a tightly contested 4-4 bought.
