Kyle Dake and Zaurbek Sidakov entered their 2023 World Championship final with seven titles between them. Their match was a dramatic 17-point thriller, and in the end, Sidakov earned his 4th World/Olympic gold medal and remained undefeated in World and Olympic competition.

Dake scored the only point of the first period on the strength of a step out mid way through the round. In the second period, the match opened up with 16 points between the two champs.

Sidakov earned a takedown from an outside step early in the period plus another point from an expired activity clock. Dake responded with a takedown of his own to take a 3-3 lead on criteria. In the final minute of action, Sidakov went back to his outside step which resulted in an 11-point exchange between the two wrestlers. When the dust settled, Sidakov's hand was raised with a 10-7 victory in a match that won't be soon forgotten. After the match, Dake commented on their thrilling bout.
