Purdue Wrestling opens the season on Nov. 5 at the Clarion Open hoping to build off a season where Matt Ramos pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of college wrestling. 

Ramos returns for the Boilermakers after a 35-5 record in 2023 and a second-place finish at the NCAA Tournament. 

But it was his win over Spencer Lee, one of the greatest college wrestlers of all-time, in the NCAA Wrestling Tournament semifinals that shocked the sport. Lee was attempting a fourth-straight national championship at 125-pounds before running into Ramos. 

Ramos returns for his red-shirt junior season ranked No. 1 at the 125-pound weight class. 

But the Boilermakers are more than just Ramos. The team returns two more national qualifiers in Marcos Polanco and Hayden Copass. 

Purdue begins the season ranked No. 19 in the FloWrestling preseason poll.

Purdue travels to Pennsylvania to start the season for the Clarion Open and the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. Purdue also is one of many ranked teams heading to Las Vegas for the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. The Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational is streaming live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.

When Is the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Tournament? 

The Big Ten Wrestling Tournament is March 9-10 at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md. 

Last year’s Big Ten Tournament was at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

This is the first time Maryland has hosted the tournament. 

When is the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Tournament?

The NCAA Wrestling Championships are March 21- 23 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
