Arnold used a second-period escape and takedown to score his four points in the 4-1 victory. The potential now full-time 174 starter was the #5 overall recruit coming out of high school last year. Having won the Luther Open last weekend as well, he has three more events to compete in before Tom Brands has to decide if his redshirt will be pulled or not. With Nelson Brands in suspension this year, but planning to return next year, it would make sense to have Arnold compete this season and redshirt next season.

Teske Looking Healthy
The Hawkeyes had reasons to smile about 133 as well. After medically forfeiting out of the Luther Open last weekend, Brody Teske’s health was being called into question. However, he looked good picking up a major decision over #23 Gabe Whisenhunt.
Kaylor Upstets Ayala Late
The low point for the Hawkweys came at 125 as Drake Ayala was upset by #26 Brandon Kaylor. Kaylor, a 2022 All-American, had been struggling so far this season starting with a record of 4-2. Getting the first takedown, Ayala led for a good portion of the match but gave up a late takedown off a slide by counter from Kaylor to secure a 7-6 win.
