Cornell Wrestling Adds Three Massive West Coast Recruits To Class Of 2025
Sergio Vega, Isaiah Cortez, and Elijah Cortez all have made their college decisions. The trio has committed to the Cornell Wrestling program.
Cornell Wrestling just added three massive pieces to its 2025 recruiting class. Gilroy California's Isaiah and Elijah Cortez will be headed to Ithaca along with Sunnyside, Arizona's Sergio Vega. Isaiah and Elijah Cortez are ranked #16 and #38 in their class, and Vega is ranked #12.
The Cortez brothers won state titles at 120 lbs and 126 lbs in the ultra-tough single-class California State Championships last season and followed that up top 5 finishes at 55 kg in the U17 World Team Trials.
After a 4th place finish at Fargo this summer, Sergio Vega followed that up with a runner-up performance at Super 32 that included an upset victory over former #1 ranked 132-pounder Ben Davino. Vega's victory moved him from #23 to #12 in the class of 2025.

This west coast trio joins New Jersey recruits #65 Rocco Dellagatta, #30 Alessio Perentin, and #4 Anthony Knox and New York's #92 Elijah Diakomihalis to give Mike Grey and company one of the deepest 2025 recruiting classes in the country thus far. Cornell's 2023 recruiting class was ranked #4, and their 2024 recruiting class is currently ranked #7.
