Bo Bassett Releases Unconventional Recruiting Update
Bo Bassett, the #2 ranked recruit in the class of 2026, has released an unconventional recruiting update.
On Tuesday, Bo Bassett took to X to announce that he'd be dropping a list of his top colleges. He's a recent Ironman champion and the #2 ranked recruit in the class of 2026, so it's no surprise that Bassett's post received a lot of engagement. Most of the comments on the post came from people guessing where he would end up or hoping that their favorite school would make the list.
Bassett released a highly unconventional school list post the next day. The graphic on the post included logos from nearly every NCAA Division 1 school along with multiple Division 2 and 3 programs.
Not the list most expected-

I am keeping my options wide open. I am very excited for the process and to see where I fit into programs when the time comes. There are so many great coaches and colleges. #DreamBig #SprintTheMile. #MachineGunMindset

Recruiting won't be officially open for Bassett until June of this year, but the Bishop McCort sophomore felt compelled to emphasize how open he is about his college future because he's already heard rumors from other people about where he'll end up. "I had so many people tell me at Ironman, 'I heard you are going here or there.' I want this list to let everyone know that I am keeping my options wide open."
Bassett's post is a message for potential coaches who might be interested in recruiting him. He's had conversations with wrestlers who haven't been recruited by programs they were interested in. "[Coaches] say they assumed they were going somewhere and didn't bother recruiting them." Bassett doesn't want to miss his opportunity to be recruited. "I really like so many schools, coaches and wrestlers already in colleges. I am excited for this process."
