Penn State Freshman Braeden Davis Stays Undefeated vs AA DeAugustino
Penn State true freshman 125-pounder Braeden Davis returned to his home state and knocked off Michigan All-American Michael DeAugustino at 125 lbs.
The Penn State wrestling program definitively pulled Braeden Davis' redshirt during its dual against Michigan on Friday night. The Dundee, Michigan product had worn his Penn State singlet five times already this season, so Davis' return to the Mitten State meant that he'd be a Nittany Lion starter for the remainder of the season. Davis made the most of the opportunity.
Braeden Davis' opponent was Michigan's Northwestern All-American transfer Michael DeAugustino, a 6th year wrestler from Florida who currently holds the #17 spot in the NCAA rankings. DeAugustion finished 4th at the 2022 NCAA Championships.

Davis did his high school wrestling at Dundee High School, a powerhouse program in Michigan about half an hour north of Michigan's campus. It's fitting that the most significant result of his true freshman season to date happened so close to where he made a name for himself.
In high school, Davis was a standout lightweight. He earned a victory at FloWrestling's Who's Number One in 2021 and finished his high school career as the #36 ranked recruit in the class of 2023.
