Freshman Nick Feldman Upsets All-American Davison To Give tOSU Upset Win
Ohio State freshman heavyweight Nick Feldman knocks off two-time All-American Lucas Davison to complete an improbable come-from-behind victory over Michigan
Ohio State freshman Nick Feldman ended his high school career as the #1 ranked recruit in the class of 2022. The Malvern Prep heavyweight just notched the type of victory Buckeye fans have been waiting for.
With Three matches to go in Ohio State's dual against rival Michigan, the Buckeyes trailed 19-9. That meant they'd need three victories and bonus points along the way. Ohio State true freshman 184-pounder Ryder Rogotzke teched #14 Jaden Bullock, and Freshman Luke Geog beat Wolverine Rylan Rogers to put the Buckeyes within two points and give Feldman the opportunity to win the dual for his squad down 19-17.
Freshman Nick Feldman toed the line against #4 Lucas Davison, a two-time All-American transfer from Northwestern who's one of the most proven heavyweights in the country.
The first period at heavyweight was scoreless despite multiple scrambles that could have resulted in points for either Feldman or Davison. In the second period, Feldman chose bottom but was ridden out by the savvy veteran. His only solace was a point on two stall calls.
In the third, Davison escaped quickly which tied the score but essentially gave him a lead due to his riding time advantage. Feldman flipped the script with a quick takedown. He didn't ride long, but he didn't need to. Feldman held position for the rest of the match and held on to a one-point decision to earn the top individual victory of his career and complete the Buckeyes' improbable 20-19 come-from-behind victory over the Michigan Wolverines.
