Wisconsin Wrestling 2X All-American Dean Hamiti Enters The Transfer Portal
Two-time All-American Dean Hamiti of Wisconsin is the first high-impact wrestler to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships.
Dean Hamiti, a two-time All-American for the Wisconsin Badgers, has entered the transfer portal just two days after the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He finished 6th place at both the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Championships but was one match short of placing this year falling to eventual champion David Carr of Iowa state in the quarterfinals followed by a sudden-victory loss to Oklahoma State's Izzak Olejnik, this year's 5th place finisher.
Hamiti has been a staple in the Badgers' lineup the past three seasons. He hit the ground running as a true freshman during the 2021-22 season and hasn't slowed down. The true junior has a 81-14 record with nearly a 70% bonus rate. His high pace and offensive approach have made him a fan favorite, not just in Madison, but around the country.
The Wisconsin 165-pounder was a Big Ten champ in 2023 before finishing second to Penn State's Mitchell Mesenbrink this year.
Hamiti is the first high-profile wrestler to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of the NCAA Championships two days ago. His status in the portal is "do not contact."
