The USA Olympic Team Trials will feature the biggest names in wrestling this weekend, including Jordan Burroughs, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist. Matches will take place on April 19-20 in State College, Pennsylvania at the Bryce Jordan Center,  home to Penn State Wrestling.

Wrestlers will be going head to head competing for a spot on Team USA at the Olympics, spots are limited with only 16 countries being able to qualify per weight division. Many spots have already been secured over the course of multiple events in 2023, you can find a full list of who has qualified here. 

Burroughs will hit the mats in a loaded 74 kg bracket featuring Kyle Dake, Jason Nolf and more.

1. Jordan Burroughs Won Gold at the 2012 Olympics

in 2012 Burroughs made a historic run to the finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics of Lyndon. Burroughs took down Sadegh Goudarzi from Iran, 1–0, 1–0, to claim his Olympic gold. He also has six world championships to add to his career, 4x gold at 74 kg, and 2x gold at 79 kg.

2. Where Is Jordan Burroughs From?

Jordan Burroughs was born in Camden, NJ but calls the town in which he grew up, Sicklerville, New Jersey his home. Burroughs attended Winslow Township High School and won the 006 New Jersey state title at 135 pounds to finish his senior year. 

3. Where Did Jordan Burroughs Wrestle in College?

Burroughs went to Nebraska from 2006-2011 and finished with the Fourth-most wins in school history and a Two-Time National Champion (2009,157; 2011, 165). 

He is also a recipient of the  2011 Hodge Trophy award, and is just one of many Hodge Trophy Winners at USA Olympic Team Trials.

4. Jordan Burroughs Olympic Wrestling Trials 2024 

Burroughs is a favorite heading into the Olympic Team Trials this weekend but will face other top contenders Kyle Dake and Jason Nolf.

" Burroughs was the Team USA rep at 74kg for nine straight years, from 2011 to 2019, earning an Olympic gold, four world gold and three world bronzes during that span." - Andrew Spey

Since then however, Kyle Dake has been the US team rep for the last three World Championships, where he's won two world golds, a world silver, and another silver at the Tokyo Games.
