Nick Lee Hired As Assistant Coach At Penn State
2X NCAA champion Nick Lee will be making the move to coaching staff.
Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson announced this morning that Nick Lee will be joining staff as an assistant coach "just as soon as we possibly can." Sanderson joined Jeff Byers on the "Strong and Grateful" podcast to announce the hire.
"He has a knack for coaching," said Sanderson. "He's really smart. He's taken a vested interest in helping the people around him get better. Even at times when he's supposed to be training, he's helping others. I think he's going to do an outstanding job. He gives us a younger mind who's going to see things a little differently and add a lot to what we're doing as a staff... Obviously, he will be a great resource for the bottom five weight classes. You try to make sure you have people for all positions.
This comes after former assistant coach Jimmy Kennedy joined David Taylor on staff at Oklahoma State last week.
Nick Lee was a 2X NCAA champion and 4X All-American for the Nittany Lions during his college career in 2018-2022. Post college Lee made the 2023 World team at 65 kg and most recently finished in 2nd place at the Olympic Trials.
Lee will be joining Sanderson, Casey Cunningham, and Cody Sanderson as official coaches at Penn State.
