The University of Iowa added another big-name commitment to this year's recruiting class. Kennedy Blades will be a Hawkeye when she returns from the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she is representing the United States at 76 kg.

The Chicago, Illinois, native announced her plans for the upcoming season on Instagram.

"I'm so excited to announce that I'll be a Hawkeye! Can't wait to represent Iowa and for the journey ahead."

Blades's commitment comes days after 2023 World silver medalist Macey Kilty signed with the Hawkeyes. The addition of Blades, a 2021 Junior World champion, means the Hawkeyes will have a line-up decision to make.

Iowa returns 170-pound NCWWC champion Kylie Welker but the weights change next season to 160 and 180. Each could occupy a spot in the line-up or compete at the same weight since a maximum of 15 wrestlers can participate at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships.

Iowa concluded its inaugural season with a 16-0 dual record and the team title at the 2024 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships. The Hawkeyes return four national champions and 10 All-Americans from last season.

The 2025 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships will be held at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, on March 7-8.
