Round Of 16 - 11-0 win over Catalina Axente, ROU

Blades started this match out with a smooth double leg for a takedown just 30 seconds into the match. 20 seconds later, Blades hit a powerful blast double for four points and extended her lead to 6-0 - Blades held that 6-0 lead at the break. A little over a minute into the second period and Blades uses a throw-by to a HUGE five to end the match with an 11-0 tech.

Quarterfinals - 4-3 win over Milaimy Marin, CUB

This match was a rematch from the Grand Prix of Spain where Marin defeated Blades, 13-4. This quarterfinal Olympic bout got off to a slow start with Marin going on the activity clock and failing to score 2 minutes into the match. That shot clock point was the only one of the first period giving Blades a 1-0 lead at the break.

Marin started the second with a shot off the whistle for a step out to take a 1-1 lead on criteria. Blades was put on the clock and responded with a nice double from space for a step out for a stepout to take back a 2-1 lead. With 90 seconds to go in the match, Marin got in deep on a double but Blades countered and scored 2 on exposure to extend her lead to 4-1. Marin continued to come forward and scored a takedown off a Blades double with 13 seconds left. Despite a few more shots from Marin, Blades defends and gets the 4-3 victory.

Semifinals - 8-6 win over Aiperi Medet Kyzy, KGZ

Blades struck first with a double from space to take an early 2-0 lead. Meded Kyzy responded by forcing double underhooks and throwing it by for a takedown to take the lead on criteria. Blades secured a step out at the end of the first to lead 3-2 at the break.

Medet Kyzy blitzed forward in the second period looking to force a stepout but Blades hit a throwby on the edge of the mat and shot in for a takedown. Medet Kyzy challenged wanting a stepout but lost giving Blades another point. Blades added another takedown of the restart to extend her lead to 8-2. However, Medet Kyzy responded with a takedown and a turn to narrow the gap to 8-6. Blades defended all of Medet Kyzy's attacks to hold on to win, 8-6 to move into the Olympic Finals!

Finals - 3-1 loss to Yuka Kagami, JPN

Both Blades and Kagami started the match content working from space feeling one another out for the first minute or so of the match. Blades was put on the clock first and was unable to score giving Kagami a 1-0 lead two minutes into the match. Blades responded with a reattack double and ran Kagami out for a stepout to take a 1-1 criteria lead. Kagami got in on a head out side single at the end of the first but was unable to finish - Blades held the 1-1 at the end of the first.

Similar action in the second as in the first with both Kagami and Blades content on working from space. Kagami secured a takedown on the edge of the match to go up 3-1 with 1:22 to go in the match. Kagami continued to plant herself in the middle of the mat with Blades faking from the outside. Blades fired off several shots from the outside but couldn't penetrate Kagami's defense. Great effort from Blades but Kagami held on to win 3-1.
