The 2024 U17 World Championships took place in Amman, Jordan featuring wrestling’s future stars. Team USA won the team title in a close team race over Iran in the men’s freestyle division. Check out the below article for the final team standings and a breakdown of the team race.

USA Wins Title Narrowly Over Iran

Team USA won a close team race over Iran securing the title by just 20 points. The US held a 1-point lead heading into the final day but pulled away by winning  4 of their 5 matches in the last day of competition. USA won 6 total medals (3 golds and 3 bronze) and had 9 of their 10 wrestlers wrestle in a medal match. Iran also won 6 medals (2 golds, 2 silvers, 2 bronze) but didn’t have any other wrestlers make a medal match. Check out the final team standings below:

Team points are calculated according to UWW’s top 10 placement points for world championship team scoring: 25, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. Of note, Russia and Belarus are not in the official team rankings because they are competing as “Individual Neutral Athletes.” However, we chose to include them in the above standings to show how those countries are performing at U17 Worlds.
