4x National Champion Cam Guerin Won't Compete This Season
McKendree's Cam Guerin will forgo the upcoming college season to focus on her health.
One of college wrestling's greatest women's freestyle wrestlers is stepping away, at least for now.
Cameron Guerin won four National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCAA programs) for McKendree but will forgo this season. She still has a COVID year and a return to college competition is still an option.
Guerin announced her year-long break with an Instagram post.
"I’d like to announce that I will be taking this year off from wrestling," Guerin said in the post. "I’m electing to take care of some injuries that have been persistent for years. Wrestling is my life, so taking care of my body and mind is my first priority. I am excited to look at this from a visual perspective during this time, and grow as a student of the sport on a deeper level. To those that continue to support me, thank you and I will be back with more fire than ever. To those competing this year, have a great season.
"I’ll see you soon!"
Below is Guerin's perfect record at four NCWWC tournaments with highlight matches from her college career. She still has an opportunity to become the first five-time NCWWC champion.
