125: Kale Petersen, Iowa wins by forfeit
Peterson receives a forfeit and Iowa takes a 6-0 lead.
133: #3 Drake Ayala, Iowa vs #20 Tyler Knox, Stanford
Ayala comes out firing and converts on a slide by for a takedown just 40 seconds into the match to take a 3-0 lead. Knox gets a quick escape and now he's in on a leg - Ayala tries to scramble through but Knox catches him on his back! Ayala bellies out before giving up any back points and Knox gets the takedown to lead 4-3. Knox is riding tough on top and almost gets back points with a turk but Ayala fights through and is looking for a reversal but Knox holds on to the leg earning a stall call but avoids giving up any points. Knox leads 4-3 at the end of the first.
Knox goes down in the second period and earns another quick escape to extend his lead to 5-3. Back on their feet, Ayala converts on a leg attack for the takedown to reclaim the lead. Knox escapes to tie it back up but Ayala continues to attack and the ref calls Knox for stalling giving Ayala a 7-6 lead going into the third.
Ayala chooses neutral and gets in on a leg attack but Knox is tricky in these scrambles and he scores another takedown to take a 9-7 lead. Ayala escapes and Knox is back in on the legs and earns another takedown! Ayala gets the reversal but it's not enough. Knox escapes and gets another point for riding time to pull off the upset over Ayala, 15-10!

141: Ryder Block, Iowa vs Aden Valencia, Stanford
Valencia comes out and gets a takedown right away to take an early 3-0 lead. Block escapes after about 30 seconds of riding time but Valencia gets right back to his single leg and finishes again to take a 6-1 lead with 90 seconds left in the first. Valencia continues to ride tough on top and builds over 2:20 of riding time to close the first period out leading 6-1.
Valencia starts the second period on bottom. Block commits to the ride and Valencia is dinged for his second stall call giving Block another point. Valencia finally escapes with 20 seconds left in the second and it's 7-2 going into the third period.
Block chooses neutral in the third period but Valencia gets right back to his offense and secures a quick takedown. Block gets an escape and Valencia is pressing for a major. He almost gets the takedown with a single leg but Block responds with a double to avoid giving up the major. Valencia gets the decision victory.

149: #4 Kyle Parco, Iowa vs #10 Jaden Abas, Stanford
Good matchup here between All-Americans Parco and Abas! Not much action in the first - neither wrestler committed to any attacks and it's 0-0 at the end of the first period. Abas goes down in the second period and Parco locks up a cross-wrist tilt and secures 4-nearfall points! Parco lets the wrist go but gets right back to it for 4 more back points and extends his lead to 8-0. They go out of bounds so Abas gets a fresh start but Parco gets back to the tilt and it's 12-0 at the end of the second period.
They go neutral in the third period and Parco gets a takedown to close out the match with a 15-0 tech! Big win for Parco in his Carver-Hawkeye debut.

157: #1 Jacori Teemer, Iowa vs Grigor Cholakyan, Stanford
Now it's Teemer making his Carver-Hawkeye debut and though he's the big favorite, Cholakyan is a tough freshman. Cholakyan gets in on Teemer's legs but isn't able to fight through Teemer's defense. Not much other action in the first and it's 0-0 going into the second.
Cholakyan goes down in the second period and earns a quick escape. Teemer is picking up his offense now and almost finishes on a single leg but Cholakyan kicks out to avoid giving up three. Now Teemer blasts through Cholakyan and gets the takedown to take the lead. Cholakyan gets another quick escape but Teemer gets back to his offense with another double - Cholakyan scrambles through and originally the ref grants a takedown but then waves it off. Now it's going to review and they award a takedown for Teemer, it's 6-2 going into the third period.
Teemer goes down in the third period and quickly escapes. Teemer looking really comfortable on his feet and blasts through Cholakyan again on a double to take a 10-2 lead. Teemer lets up Cholakyan and will need one more takedown to secure the major decision. Teemer's coming forward now and gets on a single and converts for the takedown after a short scramble. Teemer gets the major and wins 13-3.

165: #2 Michael Caliendo, Iowa vs #8 Hunter Garvin, Stanford
Another All-American matchup here between Garvin and Caliendo! Garvin immediately converts on a low single to take an early 3-0 lead. Garvin rides for 35 seconds before Caliendo earns the escape and now it's 3-1 with two minutes to go in the first period. Garvin finds his way to a bodylock and throws it by for another takedown and now Garvin leads 6-1. Caliendo earns another escape but Garvin stays on the attack - he almost gets to Caliendo's legs but Caleindo defends to avoid giving up a takedown. Caliendo goes for an inside trip but it allows Garvin to get back to his body lock and he takes it down to the mat for another takedown - it's 9-2 after the first!
Caliendo goes down to start the second and earns an escape to make it 9-3 but Garvin holds 1:13 of riding time. Caliendo feels the pressure and he's coming forward in a hurry now. Caliendo finally gets to his offense and rushes through Garvin with a double leg to close the gap to 9-6 now. Garvin gets an escape but Caliendo stays on his offense and converts on another single leg to make it 10-9 at the end of the second period.
Garvin goes down to start the thrid period and earns a quick escape to put his lead at 11-9. Caliendo looks fresher than Garvin and is charging forward - Garvin gets called for staling and it's 11-10 now. Caliendo continues to attack and takes his first lead of the match with a takedown on the edge of the mat. Garvin gets the escape and is now down 13-12. Garvin takes a shot but it's countered by Caliendo and that's gonna do it - Caliendo ends the match on top, picks up another stall point and wins 17-12. Phenomenal match and great come-from-behind victory for Caliendo.

174: #4 Nelson Brands, Iowa vs #21 Lorenzo Norman, Stanford
Big match here for both Brands and Norman. Brands is obviously the more accomplished wrestler but Norman is off to a great start this year and notably defeated Shane Griffith last year. Norman comes out with a blast double but can't get through Brands' hips. Norman stays on his offense and Brands is hit for stalling. Norman gets to a single now and finishes at the end of the period to lead 3-0 after 3 minutes.
Brands goes down in the second period and earns a quick escape. Not much action in the second - Brands and Norman both attack a few times but neither get close to scoring. It's 3-1 at the end of the second period.
Norman goes down in the third and escapes quickly to extend his lead to 4-1. Brands is coming forward looking to score but he's having a hard time getting to Norman's legs. Norman continues to hold good position - Brands takes a few shots but is too extended and Norman holds on to win 4-1. Impressive match for Norman - he'll climb the rankings this week and should be considered a legitimate All-American contender at 174 pounds.

184: #7 Gabe Arnold, Iowa vs Tye Monteiro, Stanford
Monteiro gets in on Arnold's legs early but Arnold dives through and scrambles to Moneiro's legs - Arnold finishes with a big lift for a takedown. Monteiro gets an escape but Arnold continues to attack. Arnold isn't able to get another takedown but his offense forces a stall call on Monteiro - Arnold leads 3-1 at the end of the first.
Arnold goes down in the second period and escapes quickly. A few nice exchanges and Arnold winds up back on the leg and converts for another takedown to lead 7-1 at the end of the second period. Monteiro goes down in the third, after an escape, Arnold converts for another takedown to lead 10-2. Monteiro gets another escape and Arnold needs a takedown for the major. Arnold gets it via a BEAUTIFUL duck and he'll win 13-3!

197: #1 Stephen Buchanan, Iowa vs #13 Nick Stemmet, Stanford
Buchanan comes out aggressively firing off shots but Stemmet does a nice job defending. Buchanan stays aggressive and finally converts on a nice high crotch finishing with a big lift for a takedown. Buchanan almost immediately gets to his cross wrist-tilt and picks up 4 back points to lead 7-0 at the end of the first period.
Buchanan goes down in the second period and picks up an escape in about 25 seconds - he holds an 8-0 lead with about 50 seconds of riding time. Stemmet hits a nice right side single but Buchanan spins and scrambles through for a takedown. Buchanan's going to work on top now looking for the tilt again but Stemmet defends and it's 11-0 going into the third period.
Stemmet elects to go neutral in the third period but Buchanan gets back to his offense for another big takedown. Stemmet leads 14-0 and cuts Stemmet - he'll need one more takedown to lock up the tech fall. Stemmet gets right to his offense and hits a nice high crotch finishing quickly for the 17-1 tech fall and the 100th win of Buchanan's outstanding college career!

285: #11 Ben Kueter, Iowa vs Jackson Mankowski, Stanford
Final match of the afternoon - Kueter gets right to his offense and secures a quick takedown off a right side attack. Kueter rides tough for a little over a minute but elects to cut Mankowski. Kueter continues to attack and Mankowski is called for stalling but neither wrestler scores to close the period at 3-1.
Kueter earns a quick escape after going down in the second to make his lead 4-1 now. Kueter continues to pressure forward and earns another takedown and stall call to extend his lead to 8-1. He finishes the period on top and holds almost two minutes of riding time heading into the third.
Mankowski goes down in the third but Kueter lets him up - Kueter will need one more takedown for the major. He gets it 30 seconds in and lets Mankowski up almost immediately - Kueter might be pushing for the tech now. Kueter gets another takedown and lets Mankowski up - it's 14-4 now. Kueter gets another point for a stall call and gets to a single leg and finishes at the buzzer - after the riding time point Kueter gets the tech fall - 19-4.
