The University of Minnesota wrestling team released a video that Gable Steveson will return to NCAA wrestling and compete for the Gophers this season.

Steveson still has NCAA eligibility remaining.

Gable Steveson's College Career

2019: Freshman, 3rd at NCAAs

2020: Sophomore, NCAAs canceled

2021: Junior, 1st at NCAAs, though this year does not count against his NCAA eligibility

2022: Junior, 1st at NCAAs 

2023: redshirt

2024: Olympic redshirt

2025: Senior

Steveson won two Hodge Trophies, in 2021 and 2022. He also won an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo in 2021. 

Though Steveson took his wrestling shoes off after winning an NCAA title in 2022, a move that traditionally symbolizes a wrestler's retirement from competition, he also picked up a pair of wrestling shoes dangling off a string in the recently posted video. And who is to say that can't symbolize the unretiring of a wrestler? 

Minnesota is planning a press conference for next Monday, which will hopefully explain the details of what Gable's competition schedule will be this season. Stay tuned for more details!
