The Missouri Valley Open Is Here
Mark November 22-23 on your calendar. Those are the dates of the Missouri Valley Open at the Burns Athletic Complex. This rare two-day in-season college tournament features the best NAIA, NCAA, JUCO and high school wrestlers in the country. Around 700 women are expected to compete in a tournament that is often tougher than college nationals.
"I think this year will be a direct reflection of how much women's wrestling has grown over the years," Missouri Valley coach Kevin Corbett said. "We are looking at a record-breaking number of entries with over 700 young ladies registered.
"I fully expect fireworks, upsets, and wrestlers proving they deserve to be ranked where they are. Whoever is crowned champion at the Missouri Valley Open has a good shot to win a national championship in their division."
Notable unattached wrestlers: Sierra Chiesa, Valerie Hamilton, Makenna Craft, Xochitl Mota-Pettis, Bella Williams, Kaelani Shufeldt, Eve Herlyn.
