Final Top 20 Team Scores
The Powerade Team race came down to the wire! Late in the tournament, the title was still in question, so the last final of the evening between #1 Alessio Perentin of Delbarton and #3 Melvin Miller of Bishop McCort loomed large. The most anticipated final of the tournament didn't disappoint, and in the end, it was Bishop McCort's sophomore, Melvin Miller, who got his hand raised. Miller will take over the top spot in the national rankings at 165 lbs next week, and the Crushers will take home the Powerade title.
Top 20 Team Scores Before Semifinals
Saturday morning's consolations gave Bishop McCort a one point lead over Lake Highland Prep. McCort and LHP will meet head to head in the semis at both 138 lbs and 152 lbs, so keep an eye on those bouts.
Top 20 Team Scores After Quarterfinals
Bishop McCort, Lake Highland Prep, Delbarton, and Malvern Prep are all ranked in the top seven in the country, and all four teams have five semifinalists. #1 Wyoming Seminary is missing Nate Desmond and Vince Bouzakis which helps to explain why they're all the way down in 6th after day one.
Nevada's SLAM Academy sits in 11th but could be poised to make a big move with four semifinalists.
The Powerade Semifinals begin at 11:00 am Eastern on Saturday. That round plus the consolations will help these team scores take shape as we head toward the medal matches.
Top 20 Team Scores Before Quarterfinals
It's too early to pay too much attention to the team race at Powerade as many of the top teams still have double digit wrestlers on in the tournament and six or more quarterfinalists. we'll learn a lot more after the quarterfinals as placement points begin to be assigned.
At this point, Lake Highland Prep's bonus points have them in the lead as they've locked up 92 points before receiving a single placement point.
