The path is set for David Taylor's pursuit of a University World title. The Penn State star is in Moscow for the University Games where, on Thrusday, our 4-man contingent went a combined 6-4 with Tyrell Fortune (120KG) capturing Bronze.

Taylor (74KG) will compete with two other Americans on Friday. Tyler Graff (60KG) and Micah Burak (CO) will also be in action.

The draw for Taylor is a favorable one. He'll start with Georgian Zerabi Erbotsona, before wrestling the winner of Apostolos Taskoudis (GRE) and Rafael Jesus (BRA).

Taskoudis remains eligible for Universities despite a lengthy career. He's been wrestling at the SR level since 2004 when he took 6th in the Olympics at 66KG, the same bracket where Jamil Kelly won Silver. Taskoudis placed 8th at European Seniors this year and in 2011, and 7th at 2009 SR Worlds.

Rafael is a newcomer to the curcuit. At 22 years of age, his first Senior tournament came last year at Copa Brasil where he finished as Runner-Up.

Should Taylor get through his first two bouts, it would set up a showdown with the legendary Russian, Denis Tsargush. A winner of one Junior World Title, two SR World Titles, and three European SR titles, Tsargush has had some epic battles with Jordan Burroughs, who beat Tsargush in three periods at both the 2011 World Championships and last year's Olympics where Tsargush earned Bronze.

Tyler Graff has an opening round bout with Spain's Val Frangulyan.

Burak opens with Hungary's Raphael Toth, aa Junior World 5th place finisher in 2011.

Day I Results

55KG - Nico Megaludis, Pennsylvania
1st Round: Megaludis had the toughest opening match for the American’s drawing Yasar Aliyev of Azerbaijan, a Bronze medalist at both this year’s European SR Championships and last year’s JR Worlds. But Nico was game, taking leads of 4-0 and 6-2 on his way to a 6-5 final win.

Quarters: Nico lost to Iran's Yaser Heidargholinez. For Nico to enter the repachage, Heidargholinez will need to beat Kyrgystan's Samat Nadrybek.
