Cael Sanderson gets his first win as a coach in Carver.
The first half of the dual was a see-saw battle, but with Penn State's firepower in the back half of the line-up, that's all the Nittany Lions needed.

Notes:
1st: First things first, it was a bit surprising that Coach Brands sent out Gilman as opposed to #4-Clark. Gilman stood toe-to-toe with Megaludis, who is a notoriously good handfighter. Scoreless first period.
2nd: Megaludis got his escape right off the whistle. Gilman was in deep on a single but Nico dove underneath and forced a stalemate. Just after the restart, Nico scored on a quick low ankle attack. He rode out the rest of the period to hold a 3-0 lead after two.
3rd: Nico rode the first :30 seconds and dropped to a leg. Gilman kicked free with Nico holding riding time. Both exchanged shots late without scoring.

Notes:
1st: Ramos wrapped up a low single on the edge halfway through the first and kicked Gulibon loose. Constant forward pressure forced a stall call on Gulibon just after the 1:00 mark. On the restart, Ramos scored from front head, to stake him to a 6-2 lead.
2nd: Gulibon starts underneath and Ramos goes over a minute RT. Gulibon got out and Ramos was immediately back in on a shot, but they went out of bounds. A series of fakes and good lateral motion from out in front scored Ramos another takedown. Ramos then started an assault with Gulibon backing up and getting hit for a stall point. 8-4 after two periods.
3rd: Neutral start. Ramos had Gulibon off balance and could have had the takedown, but goes big. Gets the cowcatcher and the fall like he did last year. Carver Erupts!

1st: Dziewa scored on a little shuck :30 in. 2-1 at the end of 1.

3rd: Dziewa goes neutral. Zain shoots a low single and splits the middle, getting the takedown and a 4-2 lead. He rode out to tie the dual.

Notes:
1st: A lot of action in the opening moments by both guys but no score. The flurry slowed considerably with collar ties in the middle. Beitz nearly had an ankle pick but the whistle blew. The officials reviewed it, but the call held. Scoreless first.
2nd: Kelly escaped moments into the second and had Beitz in trouble from front head before he spun out of it. Kelly starts dictating pace. Nice exchange with :25 to go as Beitz went to that ankle pick and Kelly re-attacked. 1-0.
3rd: Beitz underneath and tripods up. Kelly gives it up. Tied at 1 when Beitz goes to a low single. Kelly stuffs it and they go out of bounds. Beitz tried to turn the corner and had Kelly off balance when he got a big 5 point play.

1st: The first minute saw just half shots by both guys. Active, but not committing. Vollrath got in on a shot with 1:00 left, but didn't finish there. DSJ stuffed it and forced a stalemate.
2nd: St. John chooses down and is out in 5 seconds. DSJ hits a super crisp hi-crotch to go up 3-0. After a Vollroath escape, St, John scored another at the buzzer with relentless motion from out front. 5-1.
3rd: DSJ gets RT early in the period. He gets a takedown with about :40 left and starts pushing the pace looking for bonus, but comes up just short.

Notes:
1st: DT scored on a low ankle shot just moments into the bout. He allowed and escape, then immediately scored on another ankle pick. After another escape, Taylor put together a couple shots and eventually scored on a head-inside single for a 6-2 lead with gang of RT.
2nd: Taylor allows the escape to start the period. Moore made DT work for his next score, which didn't come until :35 left in the period on a nice shrug. 8-3.
3rd: An escape and a high-crotch put Taylor in bonus point territory with an 11-3 lead. Taylor rode out the rest of the match.

1st: A lot of action early that saw Brown with great head position score a quick two followed by a granby from Evans for an escape.
2nd: Brown starts underneath. Evans rides for a while before Brown gets the E1 :45 in. Evans dinged for stalling with :30 left in the period. 3-1 end of 2nd.
3rd: Evans down. Brown rides tough. Evans to his feet a couple times, but Brown recovers. Tack on an RT point.

Notes:
1st: Ruth was in deep on a double but Lofthouse made him work for it. After a long, scramble that lasted over a minute, it was stalemated. A review process took place and Ruth was awarded a takedown and the clock reset to 2:45. Ruth then drove threw a double for his second takedown. A single leg gave Ruth his third takedown for 6-3 first period lead.
2nd: Ruth underneath and out in :15. It was another minute before Ruth scored on a lefty Hi-C that also banged Lofthouse for stalling.
3rd: Lofthouse got in on a shot early in the period, but didn't finish. Ruth was close to a counter score, but Lofthouse slipped out. A Ruth takedown at 1:00 put him in bonus point range at 11-4. He rode out to get the RT point and the major.

1st: Inside of :15 McIntsoh hits headlock. Brooks was able to cirlce out of it to make it 5-1 after 1 minute. McIntosh added another takedown to close the 1st 7-1.
2nd: McIntosh started pouring it on with lots of leg attacks that had him up 14-4 to end the second.
3rd: Brooks put on a good ride for about :45 before McIntosh got out. That would be the last point.

1st: It was interesting to see Telford back on the mat after a long lay-off. It bodes well for the Hawkeyes that he wrestled in a dual whose outcome was alread decided. No serious scoring situations in the 1st.
2nd: Telford's early escape opened scoring.
3rd: Telford looked to have a good leg ride going but it was called potentially dangerous. He went right back to it on the restart and after about :45, Lawson scored on a switch. A long scramble ensued and Telford came back around for another reversal with :18 left.
