FloWrestler of the Week: Devin Brown, Franklin Regional
FloWrestler of the Week: Devin Brown, Franklin Regional
The Dapper Dan All-Star Classic never disappoints and this year wasn’t any different.
The shear amount of action was at an incredible level from start to finish, despite the lopsided 31-14 victory by Team USA. And although every guy from teams USA and PA brought the intensity, it was three-time PA State Champ Devin Brown of Franklin Regional who came with some serious heat when he majored top-ranked Jabari Moody, 13-4.
Brown built up a huge 8-0 lead over Moody and was absolutely relentless on his feet and on the mat. Moody was able to capitalize on a pair of the future Mountaineer’s mistakes, but it wouldn’t be enough to halt the quickness and dominance of Brown.
Brown’s display of speed and athleticism makes him the FloWrestler of the Week presented by Cliff Keen.
Holmes’ pick: Fox Baldwin, Osceola (FL)
Recorded four bonus point wins including a 39 second fall in the finals to take home his fifth state title. He also recorded a technical fall to start his title run followed by a fall in 1:05 and a 9-0 major before his quick finish in the fall for his 5th state title. He added a 6-4 win over Te’Shan Campbell the next day at the Dapper Dan Classic.
Willie’s pick: Jose Rodriguez, Massillon Perry (OH)
Defeated 8th-ranked Austin Assad of Brecksville in the final to claim his second state title. Rodriguez rattled off three dominant wins en route to the final where he defeated Assad 6-5 to win the 126-pound championship.
Bratke’s pick: Alex Marinelli, St. Paris Graham (OH)
Had three tech falls, in which he scored atleast 22 points, and a pin in 4:21 on his way to winning his third state title to cap off an undefeated season of 54-0.
Vinny’s pick: Davion Jeffries, Broken Arrow (OK)
Avenged his Super 32 finals loss to #1-Sam Krivus by shutting out the two-time state champ, 3-0, at the Dapper Dan. Jeffries won a scramble to record the first takedown and added an escape later in the bout to get the shut out win and knock off Krivus.
CP’s pick: Mitch Moore, St. Paris Graham (OH)
Gave up just one point on his way to winning his first state title. His first state title run was capped off with a fall in 1:01 in the finals over Tony DeCesare.
