Gable Steveson has wanted the number one spot for a long time and now that he has it, it’s going to take a serious force for him to be knocked off. That serious force could come in the form of Jordan Wood, the former number one guy at the weight.
Steveson and Wood met at Cadet and University Nationals with Steveson winning by a pretty dominant 8-1 score before claiming the title and the spot on the Cadet World Team. But don’t let that slanted score fool you, Wood is a very game opponent with just as much experience on the World level as Steveson, who is fresh off a Cadet World title run.
Both these guys are true hammers that can’t wait to prove they are the #1 guy at 220-pounds. Though there are a few years between them, their resumes are very similar. Both have state titles in their respective states along with Fargo titles and World finals appearances.
Not only do some of their accolades resemble each other, their styles do, as well. They move well on their feet and aren’t afraid to attack and score points. Steveson may have the edge when it comes to quickness, but not by much.

As you can see these guys are pretty evenly matched, which should make for a pretty interesting bout, especially because Wood would love to get some revenge and reclaim the top ranking here.
Will the youngster be able to make it 2-0 and stay on top against the future Lehigh Mountain Hawk, or can Wood even the score in his future home; the Snakepit?
