The ultimate goal in wrestling is an Olympic gold medal. You can’t win one if you aren’t on the team. The schedule below lists all the qualifiers for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials that will be held in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa, April 9-10.
Let’s look at the ways you can qualify in each discipline for the Olympic Team Trials.
Women’s Freestyle:
-World medalists from 2015 at Olympic weights get an automatic berth into the final wrestle-off (Adeline Gray)
-2015 World Team members (Alyssa Lampe, Whitney Conder, Helen Maroulis, Alli Ragan, Leigh Jaynes-Provisor, Erin Clodgo, Elena Pirozhkova)
-Past World or Olympic Team member (Victoria Anthony, Clarissa Chun, Jessica Medina, Kelsey Campbell, Jenna Burkert Nowry, Randi Miller, Veronica Carlson, Iris Smith)
-Win a medal at an international tour event within the year
-North American/Pan American event champion after 7/1/15
-November 6-7 – Bill Farrell International, New York, NY (highest USA medalist)*
-December 18-19– U.S. Senior Open, Las Vegas, NV (Top 7 finishers)
-January 28-30 – Dave Schultz Memorial International, Colorado Springs, CO (highest USA medalist)**
-February 12-13 - WCWA Women’s College Nationals, Oklahoma City, OK (top 3 USA athletes)
-February 26-28 - Pan American Championships, Frisco, TX (any USA champion)
-March 4-6 - Pan American Olympic Games Qualifier, Frisco, TX (USA athletes that qualify the weight class)
-March 26 - Women’s University Nationals, Oklahoma City, OK (champions)
-April 2-3 – Last Chance Trials Qualifier, Cedar Falls, IA (champions) ***
*the highest finisher that has not already qualified will take the trial berth

***Anyone that has qualified may not participate in the last chance qualifier
Freestyle:

-Past Olympic medalists from 2012 (Coleman Scott, Jake Varner, Jordan Burroughs)
-Past world medalists from 2013 or 2014 (Tervel Dlagnev, Jordan Burroughs)
-World medalists from 2015 at Olympic weights get an automatic berth into the final wrestle-off (Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Snyder)
-November 6-7 – Bill Farrell International, New York, NY (highest USA medalist)*
-December 18-19– U.S. Senior Open, Las Vegas, NV (Top 7 finishers)
-January 28-30 – Dave Schultz Memorial International, Colorado Springs, CO (highest USA medalist)**
-February 26-28 - Pan American Championships, Frisco, TX (any USA champion)

-World medalists from 2015 at Olympic weights get an automatic berth into the final wrestle-off (Andy Bisek)
-Win a medal at an international tour event within the year
