Surprising Choice For #6 Keegan Moore
John Smith can go and recruit just about anywhere. Despite the fact that Keegan Moore is a Minnesota native with a brother at Northern Iowa, those pulls won’t keep the #6 195 pounder in the country from heading to Stillwater. Keegan Moore, the #44 recruit for the class of 2016 will be an Oklahoma State Cowboy.

The 2-time Minnesota State Champion will project as a 184 at the next level. Moore has notched wins over hammers Bobby Steveson, Owen Webster and Wyatt Koelling. Keegan’s older brother Cooper is the starting 165 pounder for Northern Iowa and is currently ranked 5th in the country. His brother Paden Moore is also on the Northern Iowa squad.

Moore has an extremely physical style, utilizing upper body holds with overwhelming power. Moore can attack legs well in addition to having solid head/hands defense. Oklahoma State’s prolific track record for technical development will be a great match for Keegan’s style.

The Cowboys have had struggles (relatively speaking) at the 184 /197pound weight class the last few years. Moore could provide an immediate shot in the arm for the Cowboy upperweights.

We caught up with Keegan to find out why Oklahoma State was the spot for him.

"I am very excited to attend Oklahoma State University.  The decision came down to Oklahoma State and UNI.  I just knew when I stepped on OSU's campus, it was home to me."

We discussed with Cooper the difficulty in not choosing UNI where his brothers wrestle and why he (unlike many younger brothers) was able to make such a decision.

"My brother's have supported me through all this and it's been a really hard, but great experience.  I'm a very independent person and I loved that my brothers were there (at UNI), but I just wanted to go for what was best for me."

Moore also commented that he would like to take a redshirt year at Oklahoma State and the he also strongly considered Purdue University as a potential destination.
