The second leg of the World of Wrestling Trinity Award will kickoff later this week as thousands of youth wrestlers will compete in the 2016 Flo Tulsa Nationals. We take a look at some of the top wrestlers who will be competing in one of the toughest events all season.
75-pounds
Leading the 75-pound weight class will be Cade Morgan from Texas. Morgan took home the 75-pound title at the Flo Kickoff Classic and will look to win his second World of Wrestling event. He’ll have to battle past 2nd place finisher Eric Hussaini, and bronze medalist Caleb Coyle.
82-pounds
One of the top youth wrestlers in the country will be the favorite in the 82-pound weight class. Ranked No. 12 last year by FloWrestling, Cullan Schriever, will have to past Michigan State Champion Andrew Chambal, Riley Wertz from Missouri and Colorado State Champion Wyatt Yapoujian.
89-pounds
The 89-pound weight class will be led by a pair of Kickoff Classic Champions, as Kellyn March from South Dakota and Jeremiah Reno from Missouri will both battle for a Tulsa National Championship. Other wrestlers to keep an eye on are Ryan Miller from Pennsylvania, Illinois State Champion Luke Odom, Minnesota State Champion Paxton Creese, New Jersey State Champion Wil Guida, Drew Munch of Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin State Champion Jalen Spuhler.
95-pounds
The favorite to win the 95-pound title will be Anthony Clark from New Jersey. Clark, who lost a tough 2-1 victory in the Kickoff Classic Championship bout, will look to win his first World of Wrestling event of the season. He’ll be joined by, Dawson Collins from Colorado, Trey Crawford from Missouri, and Nebraska State Champion Maxx Mayfield.
101-pounds
Robert Howard from New Jersey will look to capture his second championship in the Trinity Award series, as he’ll compete again in the 101-pound weight class. He’ll be joined by Mosha Schwartz from Colorado who he defeated in the Kickoff Classic finals, Illinois State Champion Sincere Bailey, and Illinois Jimmy Pierandozzi.
108-pounds
Caleb Cook took home the silver medal at the Kickoff Classic while Drew Eller took home the bronze. Both of these wrestlers will look to improve upon those finishes and contend for a Tulsa National Championship. Othe who are expect to challenge them are California State Champion Elijah Blake, Fabian Lopez from Illinois, Colt Newton from Oklahoma, and Tyler Sung from Connecticut.
115-pounds
Wrestlers to keep an eye on in the 115-pound weight class include Stockton O’Brien from Utah, California State Champion Jesse Vasquez, and Noah Villarreal from Illinois.
125-pounds
Sonny Santiago from California will look to capture his second consecutive title in the World of Wrestling events. The Kickoff Classic Champion will have to get past third place winner Austin Boone from Michigan, Rocky Elam from Missouri and Dustin Plott from Oklahoma.
135-pounds
Leading the 135-pound weight class will be BJ Bailey from Illinois, Albert Ferrari from Texas, and Michael Vernagallo from North Carolina.
145-pounds
The 145-pound weight class will be led by Pennsylvania’s Gerrit Nijenhuis. Joining him will be Thomas Even from Iowa, Jacob Lagoa from Ohio, and Brock Locnikar from Arizona.
157-pounds
Kickoff Classic Champion, Zane Coleman from Oklahoma will look to win his second World of Wrestling event. He’ll be the favorite in the 157-pound weight class but he’ll get tough competition from Isaac Kinne from Minnesota, Colby Jerome from Oklahoma, and JD Peralta from California.
175-pounds
The favorite in the 175-pound weight class will be Kickoff Classic silver medalist Gavin Carter from Oklahoma. He’ll be tested by bronze medalist Ashton Sharp and Landon Brown of Oklahoma.
200-pounds
Zach Marcheselli will look to win his second leg of the Trinity Award this weekend as he’ll compete again in the 200-pound bracket. Others to keep an eye on are Criag Montgomery, Mario Perez, and Johnny Wilson.
285-pounds
The top three to watch in the 285-pound weight class are Kickoff Classic Champion Gabriel Herrera from California, Joshua McKim and Hayden Price of Oklahoma.
75-pounds
