Clovis vs Buchanan Dual Breakdown
Clovis vs Buchanan Dual Breakdown
Clovis has not lost to Buchanan or any other team in the entire state of California since 2007.
Clovis has not lost to Buchanan or any other team in the entire state of California since 2007. That’s a lot of years of dominance, especially over their rivals, Buchanan.
Like any dual, it’s all about match-ups. The line-ups will obviously be juggled and moved around, probably more so by Clovis. The Cougars have been without #2-Justin Mejia since he was injured in his first match at the Doc Buchanan Invitational and there’s no telling if he will be ready to go on Thursday night. They also gave up a forfeit at 138-pounds in every dual they had to Who’s #1 Duals so whether or not that hole is filled is yet to be determined as well.
But the bonus points will be of the essence and truly hard to come by as these teams lay it all on the line.
Who are you taking? Will Buchanan make California wrestling history or will the Courgars’ streak continue?

The Match-up: #6-Seth Nevills, Clovis vs Isaiah Ortiz, Buchanan
Holmes’ Pick: Nevills by fall
Holmes’ Analysis: It will not be easy, but Buchanan will be making California wrestling history. Clovis may have the most solid core of big men in the country that just got stronger with Hokit and Nevills dropping and Collier sliding in at 220 to complete the fearsome foursome with Seth Nevills cleaning things up at 285 still. Mejia returning to the line-up is also extremely crucial, but Clovis will need to pull an upset or two to get the job done. If this dual meet is wrestled straight up starting at 106, the key matches will be 126 and 220. I’ve got both going in Buchanan’s favor, but if Collier was to defeat Levatino I would not be surprised. Final Score: Buchanan, 29-24.
