Dave Schultz Memorial: Men's Freestyle Preview
The 2016 Dave Schultz Memorial has special importance. The highest medaling American that is not already qualified will earn a berth at the 2016 Olympic Team Trials held in Iowa City, Iowa April 9-10. Check out the men's freestyle breakdown below. Keep in mind that only Olympic weights are being contested. Catch all the action live right here.

57kg

Seeds:
1. Andrew Hochstrasser
2. Dan Mitcheff
3. Stevan Micic
4. Obe Blanc

Already Qualified:
None

Pick To Win:
Andrew Hochstrasser is a huge 57kg wrestler. He is aided by the 2kg allowance and is my pick to win.

Looking To Qualify:
The entire bracket is filled with guys looking to get into the trials in Iowa City. The champion will earn the honors. Watch the quarterfinal matchup between Micic and Sanders on the bottom side of the bracket.

65kg

Seeds:
1. BJ Futrell
2. Chase Pami
3. Jimenez Darnello
4. Nazar Kulchytskyy

Already Qualified:
None

Pick To Win:
I like Jayson Ness out of the bottom side of the bracket, but there are six or seven guys that would not surprise me if they won. Nazar Kulchytskyy benefits from the 2kg allowance and will be dangerous on the top side.

Looking To Qualify:
This is another weight that is without any qualifiers. The depth at this weight will make for an exciting battle for the qualification spot up for grabs.

74kg

Seeds:
1. Bekzod Abdurakhmonov
2. Kevin LeValley
3. Vladyslav Dombrovskiy
4. Anthony Valencia

Already Qualified:
None of the entrants are qualified for the 2016 Olympic Team Trials. LeValley was in the top 6 at US Senior Nationals before being disqualified from the tournament.

Pick To Win:
Having a World Championship medal and Golden Grand Prix title on his resume Bekzod Abdurakhmonov is a heavy favorite. It will be fun to watch him mix it up with Robert Kokesh early in the tournament.

Looking To Qualify:
Everyone outside of Bekzod is looking to qualify for the trials. The matchups are key and you have to like the bottom bracket finalist to earn the spot with the expectation of Bekzod coming through the top half.

86kg

Seeds:
1. Robert Hamlin
2. Ryan Loder
3. Austin Trotman
4. Deron Winn

Already Qualified:
None

Pick To Win:
Robert Hamlin is my pick to win. No fancy stats or credentials to cite here, just a hunch.

Looking To Qualify:
Everyone in the field is looking to qualify. 86kg is absolutely loaded with Dake, Taylor, and Caldwell moving up so the qualifying spots are at a premium.

97kg

Seeds:
1. J.D. Bergman
2. Jeffery Felix
3. Enock Francois
4. Cayle Byers

Already Qualified:
J.D. Bergman
Jeffery Felix
Enock Francois

Pick To Win:
Bergman qualified for the Olympic Team Trials with a title at the Bill Farrell. En Route to that title he defeated Francois and the rest of the contenders were in the field. I have Bergman picking up the title here also.

Looking To Qualify:
Since Bergman is already qualified, the field doesn’t have to worry about him for the qualifying spot. Felix and Francois are in good position sitting opposite of Bergman on the bottom side of the bracket.

125kg

Round Robin Entries:
Matthew Meuleners
Ben Durbin
Tyrell Fortune
Jacob Mitchell
Carl Hulick

Already Qualified:
Tyrell Fortune

Pick To Win:
Fortune was the runner-up at US Senior Nationals in Las Vegas. He is a solid favorite and I fully expect him to win.

Looking To Qualify:
The four wrestlers outside of Fortune are fighting for the qualification spot. A round robin bracket will be used so no one can complain about being on the same side as Fortune. The best man will qualify for Iowa City.
