I've been watching with excitement and intrigue each and every installment of Beat The Streets. The idea of an outdoor match, in a unique setting has always been fascinating. When you combine the great cause that Beat The Streets is with the incredible wrestlers that have participated, it's no wonder it's become such a popular event.
I'm going to touch on a few of my favorite matches I've seen throughout the history of Beat The Streets.
This year, Beat The Streets will once again be Live on FloWrestling on Thursday, May 19.
8. Ellis Coleman vs Spencer Mango - 2010
Hows this for a flashback! This features a very young Ellis Coleman taking on Spencer Mango in his prime. The two scored in bunches and Ellis even gave us a sneak peak of his infamous "Flying Squirrel."
7. Jake Herbert vs Reneiris Salas Perez - 2015
Though this one didn't go USA's way, Herbert and Salas always provide ridiculous entertainment. Herbert won't stop attacking, and Salas' counters are just out of this world. Salas also hit one of the most unique doubles I've seen in this bout.
6. Jordan Burroughs vs Saba Khubetzy - 2013
It was a tough go for Burroughs in this one, who actually dropped a period in this bout. Watching Burroughs wear out Khubetzy, who gave Burroughs some problems with his chest wrap, was a thing of beauty.
5. David Taylor vs Yabril Hasanov - 2014
There's a scramble in the first and a scramble in the second by David that were just amazing. To see him stymie and perplex a multiple World Medalist with his scrambling and far ankle stuff was amazing.
4. Tervel Dlagnev vs Basrag Kasaev - 2013
Backflips from a heavyweight? Yes please.
3. Jared Frayer vs Dzhalaludin Kurbanaliev - 2012
Back when you could get a '5' in Freestyle, there weren't many guys getting them, but Jared Frayer could. Check this throwing display out in the first period:
2. Logan Stieber vs Akmed Chakaev - 2012
Stieber needed to score late and was running out of time. Logan made it happen late against a well-credentialed Russian who placed at Yarygin and the Golden Grand Prix.
1. Coleman Scott vs Shawn Bunch - 2012
It's certainly not ideal circumstances for an Olympic Trials final, but it made for incredible theatre. The Bunch/Scott series was in its 3rd and final match. The 5 pointer to send Scott to London was about as incredible a moment you can ask for.
So those were a few of my favorites, I'm sure you have your own. Take a look back at every Beat The Streets below:
