For those of you living under a rock for the last few years and have no idea about Aaron Pico’s fighting skills, well let’s just say this: the kids got some hands.

Recently, there has been a story circulating that the the 19-year old is the reason behind Josh Thomson’s withdraw from his Bellator 154 fight against Michael Chandler. The story was originally brought to light on The MMA Road Show (@TheMMARoadShow) podcast (and retold by our very Christian Pyles on FRL 118). But apparently Pico knocked out Thomson during a sparring session to prepare for the fight against Chandler tomorrow night (Sat. May 14).

To hear the story on The MMA Road Show, skip to the last 15-minutes of the podcast below:

A few weeks ago I got to speak to Bellator president Scott Coker about the potential of Pico who had high praise for the up-and-coming prospect.
When you look at the background of boxing that Aaron Pico has, that’s impressive for a kid to be that young and to have the hands that he does,” Coker said. “And to have the wrestling pedigree that he has, he’s way ahead of the game.
Not long after the story was made public, plenty of people on Twitter reacted.    And here are some videos of Pico hitting mitts from a few years ago and of him shadow boxing before a match. It will be interesting to see what happens when he steps in the cage for the first time.
